In the From Flashlights to Frisbees exhibit, guests searched through a suitcase to find everyday items branded with a transit agency's logo, from sunglasses and a rain poncho to flashlights and frisbees. If guests found all 10, they wrote their name and the items down on a card. One lucky winner would receive 2 free passes to the Lawrence Hall of Science. Click here to learn more about the exhibit.

2016 (9th Annual Transportation Museum)
Space: 66 Years and Counting
The 2016 museum's highlight exhibit was Space: 66 Years and Counting. In this exhibit, guests explored many elements of space travel, including the history of rockets, the Space Race, the future of NASA, famous quotes, the International Space Station, and what astronauts eat in space. Guests also tried out freeze-dried ice cream, known as astronaut ice cream, and learned why astronaut ice cream isn't eaten in space! Learn more about this exhibit here.
Lights, Camera, Action: Transit in Movies
A unique exhibit at the 2016 Transportation Museum was Lights, Camera, Action: Transit in Movies, where guests could sit down and watch exciting scenes from transportation-related movies. These movies, some of Andrew Mancini's favorites, included Duel, Bullitt, and Unstoppable. The exhibit also included a scene from a suspenseful Twilight Zone episode, Nightmare at 20,000 Feet. SF → LA
The past, present, and future of travel between San Francisco and Los Angeles were presented in the SF → LA exhibit. Guests learned how the long driving distance (at the time, two days) led to the invention of the first motel. To go along with this, guests played a game where they had to match a hotel logo with the hotel brand's name. Traveling by car, bus, airplane and train were compared, in terms of cost and time. Lastly, guests learned about the Hyperloop and what's currently going on with the California High-Speed Rail project. Click here to learn about the exhibit.
Aeronautics and Flight Simulation by Brandan D.
The museum was very excited to have Brandan D. hosting another exhibit in 2016, and guests were, too! Many visitors enjoyed flying a plane on Brandan's very realistic flight simulator. Brandan is interested in flying and has a student's pilot license. To learn more about the exhibit, click here.
