Transportation Museum 2016 > From Frisbees to Flashlights

To display some of the collectibles that the Transportation Museum has, the museum hid 10 of its unique items in a suitcase and then let guests dig through the suitcase, looking to find all 10!

Winner of the Search

At the 2016 museum, guests who found all 10 items wrote the items on a card. Then, they placed the card in a box. One lucky winner would receive 2 free Lawrence Hall of Science passes. Congratulations to our winner!

The Story

Guests of all ages enjoy playing the Bus Driver game at the Transit Simulation exhibit.

Five years ago, I sent letters to transit agencies around California, asking for schedules and maps. Nearly all of the transit agencies wrote back, including brochures, and, sometimes, transit-branded items, in the package.

The next year, I wrote to transit agencies from the 40 largest cities in the U.S., and I received more collectibles, from a guitar pick to shirts and more.

Since then, I've received over 200 items from transit agencies around the country. In addition, I've collected more by shopping in transit museums and by receiving gifts from museum guests.

Thank you to all the people

who have added to the museum's collection!
